Sins of a Galactic Empire 0.9 Release
works with 1.15+
This release includes the Empire, Alliance, Republic and CIS
this will be the last major release for non-entrenchment games, I am working on a way to patch non-entrenchment files, but no guarantees that everything will make it.
currently does not work with entrenchment

the ships that will have broken textures are the following
CIS
malevolence, geonosian dreadnaught, adv trafed destroyer
the acclmator II, cc-2200 and victory II will share the meshes with their other variants, but will have different stats
some fighter meshes are still not implemented
some effects are too large or too small
there are some issues with the research tree, it was a last minute add, the important things work
some descriptions for ships or research may be wrong or non-sensical
some textures are unfinished, this will be fixed in the future
some ships may have abilities that don’t work very well, please report issues with these
balance may be off, it hasn’t been tested extensively yet, if something is very over/under powered please report it.

okay a little update. I’m at the point where most of the improvements are getting to be smaller and more nit picky. I still have some fighter work to do as well as a few effects and small bugs.
most of the ships that are size converted are rigged and shielded a few random ones are not, mostly these are new additions.
I have to do a bunch of work however to track down some crash bugs and some old files etc, which isn’t all that fun. ship icons are in for the most part, but I still have to do fighters. These will only be the build icons, not the tactical overlay or central display, but it should make building a lot easier.
If everything goes off without a hitch I’d say that the non-entrenchment version (1.15) will be ready this weekend, but if I hit any snags or real life issues It will be longer.
As I said before once this version is posted I will start working on the entrenchment version. I will probably need someone interested in backporting entrenchment changes into the non-entrenchment versions once the entrenchment version is released. please PM/email me if you are interested.

fighters and bombers were not implemented due to minidump issues

as part of the fix to the fighter issue all of the fighters have been replaced with the default fighters from the stock game, sorry no xwings and tie fighters this release, I am still trying to squash the bug.
ships tend to clump together I can’t figure out how to change thier formation spacing
alot of ships may have engine and weapon points that are not in the right spot, this will be fixed in future versions.
because of the above issue sometimes weapons may fire from empty space or engine trails may appear out of nowhere
very few ships have shield meshes, this will be fixed in the future
very few ships have proper glow textures, smoothing or normals this will be fixed as it can be addressed.
abilities are temporary almost all of them will get changed to new versions
research is completely worthless in most cases. (other than ship cap and support cap)
The AI needs some time to build up a fleet because of the lack of research to access ships, I suggest playing on the harder difficulties or waiting a bit to attack the AI

currently working on getting a new release containing the Alliance, Empire, Republic and Confederacy out for Nov 29th
This will still be a beta release, but will be a lot more playable than the last version.

we are doing some maintenance to the main server, so things may be intermittent, I will be locking the forums so we don’t lose anything and so the backup goes nicely, when we come back up I will be updating a lot of the software to supposedly better versions. This won’t impact the mod for Sins or HW2 at all other than availability of news and downloads.

Having some issues with my computer after coming back from vacation, no data lost, but have to reimage the machine, so time lost. when that is done I hope to get some progress out and release a point update for both sins and HW2

THere is slow but steady progress on the SOGE mod, many of the issue I have been having are due to the model exporter and crashes with vessels on the Alliance side. I may release in the meantime a limited alliance side with fixes and suggestions from the previous version soon.
